You: I am junior at UF who is about to turn 21. I am passionate about worship and playing guitar and drums. I also enjoy the tech side of worship and I am diligent in my work and the equipment I use to make worship as distraction-free as possible.
Offering: I understand that performers on stage can sometimes have a hard time remembering everything they need to sing or play. I have decided to make an app that will pair with smart glasses to project lyrics onto the eye so that the performer can be confident they are singing the right words.
Offering To: performers who have a lack of memory or need confidence when singing. This can be offered to amateurs as well as professionals.
Why do they care?: This app is to be used to make the performer's job easier. It is guided to make distractions a thing of the past. Having lyrics projected onto your eye also makes it more personal to the audience since the performer can look anywhere and still read the words necessary.
Core Competencies: My app will work seamlessly with ProPresenter. Pro is a computer app that is basically the "Powerpoint" of the church and professional world. Since my target audience is within the church environment, it is important that it works with apps that the church uses. I will also make sure that set up is extremely easy. Working in the music department of a church for the past 2 years has given me the ability to see how distractions can be eliminated on stage to better the worship experience.
I believe that creating the glasses was a little out of line for my business concept. Creating just the app is definitely something I can tackle better. Now I believe that the business concept fits together.
The biggest thing I changed was switching the company from hardware and software to just software. I know that other companies like Apple and Google can and will make glasses much better than my company. It would be more beneficial to adapt to software than try and fight giants in the industry. I was not given too much feedback in order to change, so the software switch is the only thing I have done.

Grant, yeah you definitely completely changed your entire business concept from the last idea napkin! I definitely think that it was for the better though. It is much easier to focus on the software and partner with a company for the product than to design it all yourself. Also this means that you will not have to deal with manufacturing costs. Good move!
ReplyDeleteHey Grant! I think you did an awesome job on this assignment and definitely changed your idea napkin for the better! I think it is great you are including an aspect to this idea now, and it definitely appeals to a millennial consumer and someone who is great with technology. Being just a software company will help you have to a bigger competitive advantage and more room for profits! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Grant, this idea napkin was awesome, and it was cool to see such a drastic change from your original idea napkin. You really took the feedback and turned it around in an extremely positive way. The fact that your product will now cater to more millennials will do you great success as those are the people who are typically the most skilled with new technology. Awesome Post!
